extensão capa.jpg

Development for rural areas of coffee production – socio-economic strategic models of subsistence and growth of the town of mata verde in minas gerais.

The objective of this extension is the application with civil society of a possible territorial action plan based on strategies (economic, sustainable, urban and social) and infrastructures that allow thinking of small agricultural cities through external capital coming from large multinationals for the sector, choosing the city of Mata Verde, as an applied case, due to its social and employment fragility.
It also seeks to understand the importance of the coffee economy and its relationship with small towns in the interior of Minas Gerais that do not have a solid infrastructure for the production of local inputs. And, finally, the need to implement a space where the needs of the agricultural city can be met through government programs, partnerships or infrastructure that enable the equitable development of the region.

Hinterland, as a convective zone for the distribution of inputs (Hernández, 2012. pg. 18) coming from coffee, is characterized by the zone of potential from the development of industrial activities that develop transport infrastructure, costs, services and food in the region. With the objective of growing the territory in favor of the coffee growers and their productive demands, it is possible to foresee the installation of a factory, playing a fundamental role in the coffee production chain and becoming the main agent for the development of this region. The extension will have as one of its focuses, the structural development of a new coffee hinterland in the city of Mata Verde, which is located between the north of Minas Gerais and the south of Bahia, an area also known as “Vale do Jequitinhonha”. Due to the high coffee production and the future perspective of improving the city in the coming years, according to SEBRAE (2015), a new infrastructure will be proposed in order to leverage the city's development from incubator models that bring investments and new techniques for the city, as well as generating new conditions for the local populationThe extension will be supported by the academic work called “Hinterland Zones for the Development of Inland Areas in Minas Gerais: Coffee Planting as a Generating Strategy for Economy and Promotion of Territorial Urbanity. ”, by undergraduate student Mariana Chaves Moura who will work and donate the result of her final graduation work project, which consists of the development of an economic development incubator for coffee, with the following initial characteristics as a by-product of the extension and being a driving force for local development. This establishes the purchase area for coffee growers, sales area, agricultural inputs area, seminar area, coffee processing area, technological pole/laboratory for the study of grains and planting, storage area, mechanical drying space, sanitary facilities, cafeterias, machinery warehouse, product storage area, coffee classification areas, grinding and packaging area.

eler.jpeg

The rururbano is a territorial configuration that can be located on the countryside-city and rural eccentric margins. It is a contemporary territorial category that marks the use of land called suburban in its way of life, in its dynamics and impacts what we call rururban. Based on this premise, together with different universities in Latin America, we will hold the 2nd LATIN AMERICAN MEETING OF RURURBANO, with the objective of expanding scientific knowledge and the projection of policies in our regions.
